GREAT PLAINS DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES, L.C.
Programmable Diesel Fuel Injection
Mission The mission of Great Plains Diesel Technologies, L.C., is to significantly improve diesel fuel economy and reduce in-cylinder formation of emissions through programmable fuel injection.
Thermal efficiency is a measure of how much heat is converted into work. Presently, the thermal efficiency of a truck or bus diesel engine is about 40 to 45 percent. Programmable fuel injection, also known as rate shaping, is the fast, infinitely adjustable control over the rate at which diesel fuel is injected into the engine combustion chamber. Programmable fuel injection in turn offers superior control over the rate at which heat is released within the engine, enabling 60+ percent thermal efficiency, depending on the specifics of an engine design and its emissions. A programmable diesel fuel injector would take into account:
- how the Ideal Heat Engine converts heat into work using the least amount of fuel;
- Sadi Carnot, 1824 (Paraphrased): Heat not used to expand matter is wasted.
- the sensitivity of real engine design and fuel economy to the Rate of Heat Release from oxidizing a fuel;
- Rudolf Diesel, 1892 (Paraphrased): Admit the combustible gradually.
- which Electro-technology enables the construction of a programmable fuel injector for superior control over the rate of heat release; and
- the Status of this development.
Speed is Life describes the project management philosophy behind the development of a proven high performance product.
